EM115: Foot and Ankle: Last Evidence on Management and Treatment in Manual Therapy

The course has as its objective the presentation of a comprehensive and present approach in manual therapy for neuro-musculoskeletal lower limb disorders.

The program is divided into 3 days during which the foot and ankle disorders will be addressed in detail to understand how they affect each other from a bio-mechanical and functional point of view.

The clinical reasoning process will be faced in its different phases, in order to understand the methods of assessment that lead to an individualized treatment program, specific to movement direction.

During the course there will be the opportunity to attend to the treatment of clinical cases performed by the teacher.

  • Effectiveness of the different treatment modalities based on current diagnostic models

11:10 - 13:00 NEW APPROACH TO CLASSIFICATION AND DIAGNOSIS OF CHRONIC DISORDERS OF FOOT AND ANKLE within a BIOPSICOSOCIIAL context

  • Introduction of patterns of movement dysfunction and foot and ankle motor control

14:00 - 17:30 CLINICAL REASONING PROCESS of the foot and ankle within a BIOPSICOSOCIIAL context

  • Stages of the clinical reasoning process
  • clinical practice of the phases of physical examination of the foot and ankle
  • observation in unloading (non-weight bearing) and in loading (weight-bearing)

  • Intervention on movement and motor control dysfunctions
  • Practice manual therapy of foot and ankle
  • the clinical examples will include movement dysfunctions with specific directions

  • Practice Clinic of therapeutic foot and ankle exercises
  • clinical examples that will include motor control dysfunctions in specific directions
