Lipedema is a pathology of adipose tissue recognized by WHO as such since 2018. At present there are no uniform diagnostic criteria and scientifically validated treatments.
The integrated evaluation of the person affected or suspected of lipedema is therefore fundamental, starting from a careful anamnesis and a complete instrumental clinical examination. The role of the physiotherapist begins with the clinical evaluation and continues along the treatment path, particularly in some phases of the conservative and/or surgical path.
In this course we will start from the currently existing literature on the pathology to understand how to set up an adequate evaluation, to arrive at the proposal of an individualized treatment. The knowledge transmitted is based both on the existing literature and on the clinical experience of the teachers on hundreds of patients affected by lipedema.
Objectives of the course are to allow learners to have the necessary tools to recognize a person potentially affected by lipedema and to be able, after medical confirmation of the diagnosis, to set up an adequate physiotherapy treatment, both in the conservative and surgical path. In addition, participants will be able to provide patients with tools for managing the disease in daily life.
